User manual

Hi, thanks for your edits. Please note that for the user manual only the most current version should be edited eg: Gramps 5.1 GulliblePangolin (talk) 09:15, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

Sorry for the confusion on the user manual, usually on the release of a new version the old user manual pages are protected against editing so that only the most recent user manual can be changed. A big thank you for any improvements you make :) I've checked each of the Gramps 4.2.x user manual pages and applied for page protection as needed. Cheers Sam888 (talk) 01:56, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

>> I'm confused. What is the whole point of editing this wiki if you strictly forbid me from helping? I can't just edit one page, I need to improve grammar. --Chills (talk) 19:53, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

You're not forbidden at all. It was purely an admin issue with the pages in question, just like on Wikipedia some pages can not be edited :) The Gramps project always allows editing of the current user manual as that version will always be copied over for the next Gramps release. Editing other peoples comment on talk pages

Please don't I really feel it is really rude[1], remember not all people have English as a first language and so long as you get the gist of the message that should be good enough! It kind of feels like you are attempting to put words into another persons mouth and can be interpreted as a personal attack! Sorry just my opinion after being on Wikipedia and no longer editing on it due issues like this in the past! GulliblePangolin (talk) 13:08, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
