Responded via email to the idea of using this template for the user manual. TLDR not in the current form needs to expand on printing automatically. Sam888 (talk) 02:17, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

The auto-expand for print concern might be addressed with a change to the print.css stylesheet. I am tracking down documentation on that possibility in the MediaWiki support pages.

Download not working

Hi On the PseudonymTree.gramps when I attempt to download gz File:GrampsPseudonymTree(02Feb2020).gz I only get an empty file and checking the wiki filesystem only shows a zero-byte file? Please upload a new version or send to me, or possibly convert it to a "zip" file for the windows users? Also, a lot of what you have done in this file should be added/merged to the example.gramps which has the same purpose and is included with each release of Gramps, eg raise a feature request to merge the two files? Sam888 (talk) 02:29, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

That's odd as the .gz file lists & downloads as 9kb on my phone & PC. I did something unusual for the hotlinks. (Maybe that is why you're seeing a zero byte file if you choose Download while right-clicking the link?) The links forward to the file management wiki page instead of being a download link for the file itself. (It took a bit of searching to discover how to correctly override the linking of the image too!)

Please note that the gzip (GNU zip) format is native to the .gpkg & .Gramps formats as written during backup in Gramps. Using the ZIP format would make it incompatible with Gramps.

Finally, I see the example.gramps and this file as being at cross-purposes & not suitable for merging.

Example.gramps contains records VALID for actual genealogical use & real-world testing. (Since it is also used for unresolved bug reports & automated testing, changing this now 'standardized' Reference File might invalidate those key processes. Mods to the example.gramps probably ought to pass through a new 'standards' verification & approval.)

The Pseudo tree is specifically incompatible with real-world use. It is an abstraction model. Bamaustin (talk) 10:46, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

Rollback on user manual

I'm rolling back several edits you made to the past user manual and the current user manual to nonexistent categories. I'll protect the older non-English user manuals from change. Please only edit the current user manual and if you notice that the old user manual can be edited, drop me a note, please. Sam888 (talk) 02:48, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

I'm sorry to see those rollbacks. The categories were already in use for other pages in those languages. These changes merely consolidated all (except 4 admin locked pages) non-English pages falling into the 'Documentation' category. It harmonized them into the subcategory listings for each language. This still left the obsolete manual pages cluttering the category but we've been discussing options for addressing that. (There is value in keeping the old versions on the wiki. Offloading them would break the 'Help' in legacy versions of Gramps. Also, some of the old documentation illustrates changes in approach & gives timeline context to evolving features.)
